When we were looking for a Brazilian coffee to replace the previous one, which is no longer available, it was important for us to find not only an excellent taste but also a special story. That’s how we came across coffee from the Sul de Minas region, where twenty small coffee growers from Nova Resende have joined forces to create something special together.
Nova Resende is a small mountain town in southern Brazil, where coffee growing is a centuries-old tradition and way of life. Each of these farmers works on a small farm, averaging only 7 to 8 hectares, yet with great care and dedication. Together they form a cooperative, share knowledge, and invest in coffee processing to achieve the highest quality.
The coffee grows at 1,000-1,250 meters above sea level, is hand-picked, and processed using the natural drying method, which preserves the beans’ natural sweetness. Red and Yellow Catuai varieties grow here, each contributing its own nuances — from chocolate and nut notes to delicate fruity hints.
We roast this coffee to a medium level, creating a drink with a pleasant, balanced flavor profile that will appeal to “classic” coffee lovers. It is perfect for espresso, French press, moka pot brewing methods, or simply pouring over in a cup.
What drew us in was not only the quality of the coffee but also the people who grow it. Some of them, like Marcelo and his family, have built coffee drying facilities with their own hands and adopted environmentally friendly practices. Each story is different, but they are all united by the belief that with joint effort and care, excellence can be achieved.
This is coffee born in a community where heart and work go hand in hand.
