Kafija Kolumbija Brant Coffee

The Nariño region, located in southwestern Colombia between the Andes Mountains and the Pacific Ocean, is a land of extreme contrasts. It produces some of the world’s finest and most balanced specialty coffees, which will surprise even the most discerning coffee lovers. The coffee is balanced with fresh citrus acidity, medium body and a long, pronounced sweetness. Your cup will reveal pleasant floral, fruity and red berry notes, complemented by soft brown sugar nuances.

Coffee is grown at a high altitude – from 1800 to 2100 meters above sea level, one of the highest in Colombia. Since the region is located practically on the equator, it receives stable sunlight all year round, while due to the high mountains, the temperature drops significantly at night (up to 15°C), which significantly slows down the ripening process of the coffee beans. This slow ripening allows the beans to develop maximum sweetness and particularly complex and nuanced flavors. The Nariño region is home to 12 volcanoes, some of which, such as the Galera volcano, are still active. They enrich the land with volcanic ash, creating a soil rich in minerals – potassium, calcium and phosphorus. This light, permeable soil is ideal for the root system of coffee trees and significantly affects the formation of the aroma and acidity of the coffee.

In the Nariño region, most coffee farms are very small – their average area is less than one hectare. Coffee is grown here by families in their third and fourth generations. Each coffee fruit is carefully picked by hand, ensuring the highest quality coffee.

This is the very first of our coffees to travel from South America to Europe on a sailing ship!

By using renewable wind energy, we care about the climate and the environment. When transporting goods by sailing ship, only around 13g of CO2 is produced per kilogram of coffee, in contrast to traditional container ships, whose impact is estimated at around 80 grams. Such transport generates four times fewer emissions over its entire life cycle than a traditional container ship. Traditional container ships also generate extremely strong underwater noise pollution (generating twice the noise permitted in a nightclub), which disorients whales and other sea animals that use echolocation. Our coffee travels in relative silence, disturbing marine fauna as little as possible.
